Frequently Asked Questions

Where is incense from originally?

The origins of incense use can be traced back to ancient Egypt, India, and China, where it played a central role in religious ceremonies, meditation, and ritual. India remains the world’s main producer of incense to this day. Our natural incense sticks are handcrafted in Brazil by the Fênix brand, which has been producing incense since 1990, drawing on ingredients with roots across South America, the Middle East, and beyond.

What are natural incense sticks made from?

Our natural incense sticks are made from a mixture of plants and aromatic resins, with no synthetic chemicals or additives. Depending on the variety, you’ll find ingredients like sacred Palo Santo wood, white Breu resin, Jagube and Chacrona plant material, vegetable coal, seed-derived alcohol, Olybane resin, Styrax (Estoraque), and botanical essential oils like Citronella. Every stick is handcrafted by artisans who have spent generations preserving the ancient art of incense making.

What incense is best for cleansing?

If you’re looking to try natural incense for cleansing purposes, our Palo Santo and Estoraque are both excellent choices. Palo Santo is a sacred wood that’s been used for centuries in Inca shamanism and other ancient Latin American cultures as a powerful means of protection, purification, and energetic cleansing. Estoraque (Styrax) is a traditional purification resin that’s equally well suited for energy clearing and smudging.

How long do incense sticks burn?

Each incense stick burns for approximately 30 minutes. Please note that because these are handcrafted products, small variations in size and weight may occur between sticks.

Is natural incense better than synthetic incense?

Unlike synthetic incense, natural incense contains no synthetic chemicals or additives. This is better because it means you’re not just getting a pleasant scent, but also the unique therapeutic and energetic properties of each ingredient.

How should incense be stored?

Incense should be kept in a dry, airy location away from direct light. Always keep incense out of reach of children and animals, and never leave a burning incense stick unattended.
