So, take the first step and begin your journey with this powerful plant medicine.
Sacred Amazonian Rapé is a powerful plant medicine used for centuries by indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest. It is typically administered through the nose using a unique device called a Kuripe. In this article, we will explore how to self-administer this medicine, which can be helpful for those who wish to partake in a ceremony alone or do not have access to a like-minded community.
The first step to self-administering Rapé is finding a perfect Kuripe for your anatomy. This process can be a trial and error as holding the device up to your mouth and nostril, or judging it by appearance alone, is not a reliable indicator of its effectiveness. It is crucial to test each Kuripe by inserting one end into your mouth and the other into your nostril and blowing to ensure it delivers a strong jet of snuff. If your Kuripe does not fit properly, you have options such as sawing down one end until it works or positioning it at an angle in your mouth.
When it comes to dosage, it is considerably harder to overdose with self-administered Rapé using a Kuripe. However, suppose you regularly practice consuming Rapé on your own. In that case, it is essential to be mindful of the amount you use to prevent it from becoming an addiction or personal vice. When administered ritualistically with a friend, viewing the experience as a medicine ceremony rather than a substance is easier.
Self-administering Rapé can be intense, and having a friend blow the medicine into your nostrils is often recommended to experience its effects fully. However, if you do not have access to someone who knows how to administer it, the following steps can be followed:
-
Sit or stand comfortably in a quiet, private space.
-
Take a few deep breaths to calm your mind and body.
-
Load the Kuripe with a small amount of Rapé, usually a pinch.
-
Place the Kuripe into your mouth, covering the small hole with your tongue.
-
Place the other end of the Kuripe into one nostril and close your other nostril with your finger.
-
Take a deep breath and blow forcefully through the Kuripe into your nostril.
-
Repeat the process with the other nostril.
-
Remember to take your time and be mindful throughout the process, and don’t be afraid to experiment to find the proper method for you. With these steps in mind, self-administering Rapé can be a powerful and transformative experience connecting you to the Amazon rainforest’s spirit.
