7 Ervas: the house blend of Brazilian folk practice
The “sete ervas” is not a single plant but a formula — a combination of seven herbs that recurs throughout Brazilian folk and Afro-Brazilian spiritual practice, where mixtures of rue, guinea hen weed, rosemary, basil, sage and their relatives are used for cleansing and protection of the home.
Blended into incense, the individual herbs stop being identifiable and become one green, slightly bitter, distinctly herbal smoke. It is broader and more complex than any of the single-herb sticks in the range.
This is the stick most associated with a general limpeza of the house: doorways, corners, rooms that have held an argument.
