Sal Grosso e Guiné: the strongest cleansing formula in the line
This one pairs two materials that rarely appear in commercial incense. Coarse sea salt has been used for purification across almost every culture with access to a coast. Guiné — Petiveria alliacea, guinea hen weed — is a pungent American herb whose garlic-like smell makes it one of the most recognisable plants in Afro-Brazilian spiritual practice.
Together they make a blunt, mineral, sharply herbal smoke. It is not a pleasant scent in the conventional sense and it is not meant to be: this is the formula reached for when a space needs a hard reset rather than a freshening.
Traditionally it is burned after conflict, after illness, or when moving into a place whose history you do not know.
Notes
- Aroma: mineral and sharply herbal, with a garlic-like edge
- Character: blunt and functional; the strongest in the range
- Traditional use: deep cleansing after conflict or illness
- Best for: resetting a space, new homes
The heavy-duty option — most people keep one box of this and burn it rarely.
